Speaker:

Welcome to Hip Hop Movie Club, the show

that harmonizes the rhythm of hip hop with

2

:

the magic of movies.

3

:

Today, we're discussing Spider-Man Into

the Spider -Verse, the first of the

4

:

current animated Spider-Man films that

started coming out in:

5

:

We are three old heads who put their old

heads together to vibe on these films for

6

:

you.

7

:

I'm DynoWright, podcaster, filmmaker,

longtime hip hop fan, and "Midnight

8

:

Marauders" by A Tribe Called Quest is in

my top 10 favorite albums of all time.

9

:

I'm JB, 80s and 90s nostalgia junkie, long

time hip hop fan, and I had the 78 inch

10

:

vinyl of Jam on It by Newcleus, which is

still one of my all time favorite songs.

11

:

I'm BooGie, a DJ, long time hip hop fan,

and I'm not watered down so I'm dying of

12

:

thirst.

13

:

In this episode, we'll answer the

question, is Into the Spider -Verse a hip

14

:

hop film?

15

:

and we'll give you five key takeaways to

make you a smarter hip hop movie fan.

16

:

Takeaway number one, the movie is a feast

for the eyes with some sweet animation.

17

:

Takeaway number two, the movie features

multiple elements of hip -hop.

18

:

Takeaway number three, Miles Morales is

introduced to the casual superhero fan.

19

:

Takeaway number four, alternate spider

characters charm the viewer.

20

:

Takeaway number five,

21

:

The soundtrack is loaded with a diverse

mix of hip -hop.

22

:

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is an

animated superhero film featuring Miles

23

:

Morales as he becomes a new Spider-Man and

joins forces with other Spider-People from

24

:

various parallel universes to save his

universe from the madman Kingpin.

25

:

All right, very happy that we did this

film.

26

:

What a great time.

27

:

Let's break it down in certain aspects of

what we saw here.

28

:

First of all, I found it very visually

stimulating and appealing.

29

:

BooGie, you wanna take us through, like

what were some of the visual aesthetics

30

:

that makes this movie special?

31

:

Sure, I mean, the colors were amazing.

32

:

It was such a vibrant film.

33

:

I mean, it was so, such beautifully

crafted.

34

:

I mean, it would go from feeling like it

was completely computer generated at

35

:

times, to feeling as if you're actually

reading a comic book, which I always think

36

:

is dope.

37

:

I always love seeing, even in live action

films, when they switch over to a comic

38

:

book layout.

39

:

It's such a cool thing for me.

40

:

And I also...

41

:

like how at times it feels almost like

you're watching a 3D movie.

42

:

Um, and I also like how, because they're

going into different, um, multiverses of

43

:

sorts.

44

:

You see that there's glitches that happen

throughout the film.

45

:

And every time a glitch pops up, I think

it's probably one of the coolest things

46

:

I've ever seen on a film.

47

:

And it's just like so cool, but I always

like, you know, the vibrant colors and

48

:

those aspects.

49

:

So I think that's, those are probably the

things that pop out for me.

50

:

DynoWright?

51

:

It's a gorgeous film.

52

:

I know it's animated and you can make it

this way, but it really is gorgeous.

53

:

It doesn't overplay the comic book parts.

54

:

I think it uses it really well in some

areas for emphasis and to provide color in

55

:

the scene, storytelling color and not like

actual color.

56

:

So sometimes you see word balloons and

sometimes you see more stylized versions

57

:

that you would see in a comic book in

there.

58

:

in the actual flow of the story.

59

:

And so it's really great.

60

:

It's so fun to watch.

61

:

And this is maybe the third or fourth time

I've seen it.

62

:

It's so good.

63

:

I couldn't agree more.

64

:

I call it the festival for the senses.

65

:

It's just you become really engaged with

it.

66

:

Spider-Man movie with modern animation

techniques and technology is just a genius

67

:

concept.

68

:

So like you both hinted at, there are

different techniques.

69

:

They have frames, they have panels at

times, and it gives you the sense that

70

:

it's printed art like the comic book.

71

:

There are parts where it looks like a 3D

movie without

72

:

the glasses, and that's intentional.

73

:

I was watching some commentary that

director put out there and they call it

74

:

chromatic aberration, which is a new term

that I learned.

75

:

Sounds like you knew that one, don't you?

76

:

So yeah, the glitching is cool because

then you can see how they move in and out

77

:

of the other dimensions or universes.

78

:

It's a very nostalgic feel because of the

panels and comic quotes in the dialogue

79

:

boxes.

80

:

Very well done.

81

:

Yeah.

82

:

I think one of the things too, I'm sorry,

but how they recap the origin.

83

:

They made it, they showed the comic book

cover and it's like it's flipping through

84

:

pages and then it shows actual, the scenes

from some of the live action movies done

85

:

in the animation.

86

:

It's like, all right, that was kind of

cool.

87

:

Yeah.

88

:

There's the part where Miles Morales is

reading through the comic book is because

89

:

his hands are sticking to the page and

he's like, well, the kind of what's

90

:

happening next is telling the story as

he's living it, which is kind of neat.

91

:

But you're right.

92

:

They do each a lot of the several

characters recap at Peter Parker in the

93

:

beginning.

94

:

And then, you know, Spider Gwen talks

about her origin story.

95

:

It's very similar, et cetera, because

they're living parallel lives.

96

:

like cutting and scratching of like

turntables, but instead of turntables,

97

:

they're like the film reels.

98

:

So you get that nice mix and it's very hip

hop.

99

:

Great analogy, yeah.

100

:

Good segue too.

101

:

So we deemed this a hip hop movie and now

we have to explain why.

102

:

So Boogie's our resident expert on all the

different elements of hip hop and you

103

:

wanna break it down as to like, where do

we see each of the elements of hip hop in

104

:

this film and how?

105

:

sure.

106

:

I mean, like, I tell people, like, they

made this one for the culture.

107

:

Seriously, hands down.

108

:

They were like, yo, we got to do something

for the heads that love hip hop and read

109

:

comic books.

110

:

It's really, yeah it's really for kids but

they really made it for us.

111

:

Yeah, they did.

112

:

They definitely did.

113

:

But yeah, just to get a little, to delve

into it.

114

:

I mean, like it's definitely has a hip hop

soundtrack.

115

:

I mean, you hear the music throughout the

film.

116

:

You see in the beginning, you know, as

Miles is sketching, he's kind of going

117

:

along with some of the lyrics.

118

:

So you can tell he's an appreciator of the

culture and he participates actively.

119

:

He's sketching some graffiti.

120

:

He actually goes out.

121

:

and creates a burner a la Beat Street,

where they sneak into where the subway,

122

:

where trains over by - where the trains

were parked at, but instead of putting it

123

:

on an actual train car, his uncle Aaron

shows him where a wall, where he can

124

:

actually create a burner.

125

:

And this is prior to him getting bitten by

the radioactive spider.

126

:

And when Miles is not sure of himself and

if he actually fits into this whole spider

127

:

verse of sorts.

128

:

he finally embraces the fact that, you

know, I can do this and I'm one of them

129

:

and I wanna help.

130

:

And he finally dons his Spider-Man suit

and his logo was tagged.

131

:

I was like, yo, even with like the, it's

like dripping, I'm like, yo, that was

132

:

kinda how they did that.

133

:

So we see those.

134

:

And then just Miles in his everyday, his

everyday wear when he's not in his school

135

:

uniform.

136

:

He's very reminiscent of people who

participate in the culture.

137

:

He's got his hoodie on.

138

:

He's got his flight jacket, workers jacket

on.

139

:

And he's sporting his classic throwback

Air Jordan 1s.

140

:

My favorite sneakers of all time.

141

:

I was like, yes.

142

:

What a culture.

143

:

Yes, it is.

144

:

with a uniform, a high school uniform too.

145

:

Yes.

146

:

Ha ha.

147

:

So we got the music, the hip hop that's

played throughout.

148

:

He's singing Sunflower, which is a collab

between Swae Lee, half of Rae Sremmurd,

149

:

and Post Malone right at the beginning.

150

:

And he sings that throughout.

151

:

They play Biggie Smalls, Hypnotize, which

is like, whoa, I can't believe that's in a

152

:

Marvel film.

153

:

like the seminal scene where he gets

bitten.

154

:

They're doing that mashup of.

155

:

Black Sheep's Choice is Yours, Sugarhill

Gang's Apache, and then afterwards they're

156

:

doing Mary Mary by Run DMC, which is very

well done.

157

:

Yeah.

158

:

You mentioned sneaker culture too, so

yeah.

159

:

It had a lot of those elements, sure.

160

:

You can even see some of the, some B-boy

flavor in the choreography.

161

:

You know, there's a lot of jumping around

and flying around stuff and, you know,

162

:

there, you can, you can trace some lines

between, you know, breakdancing and how

163

:

they move.

164

:

Yeah, and you get to, I was gonna say,

Uncle Aaron is old head too, and so is

165

:

Jeff, Myles' father, because when you take

them down to do the burners, your dad used

166

:

to, you know, we used to come out here,

this is how we, so that was their form of

167

:

expression back in the day, and then your

dad got into the police force, I used to,

168

:

Aaron was telling them.

169

:

So it was kind of like, all right, that

was our generation, you know.

170

:

Yeah, it's like down already.

171

:

It was so funny that you mentioned the

movements in comparing them to

172

:

breakdancing because Spider-Man was always

one of my favorite characters when I used

173

:

to draw back in the day.

174

:

He was always one of my favorite

characters to draw.

175

:

And it was always because he was in these

weird, crazy poses that looked like he was

176

:

breakdancing.

177

:

So when you said that, it was like, oh my

God, yes, yes.

178

:

early or late 80s, 90s when Todd McFarlane

took over Spider-Man and he really pushed

179

:

the boundaries of what his body shape was

doing.

180

:

So yeah.

181

:

Like his back would be arched, one leg

would be over here.

182

:

He'd have his hand way down here, with his

arm way up there.

183

:

Ha ha ha.

184

:

It was pushed to extremes and it really

worked and spawned a lot of copycats.

185

:

Yeah.

186

:

No pun intended.

187

:

Morales is the protagonist and he's very

likable.

188

:

You see him in a kind of vulnerable state,

how he's singing along with his headphones

189

:

and he doesn't know the lyrics.

190

:

So we like him right away and he's rushing

to get ready for school and everything.

191

:

And I just thought it was so cool that you

have a teen that's half African American,

192

:

half Puerto Rican, and he is the

protagonist.

193

:

So we haven't seen that.

194

:

I don't think we've ever really seen that.

195

:

So it was nice to see the diversity.

196

:

So Boogie, you were, again, a resident

kind of superhero fan as well, more so

197

:

than the rest of us.

198

:

So you know Miles Morales?

199

:

Miles Morales, where he first appeared in

the Marvel universe?

200

:

You know, it was funny because I don't

know if I remember when he first appeared,

201

:

he just kind of popped up.

202

:

And I was like, where did this guy come

from?

203

:

And I was, but it was so cool because I

remember like, when I first came across

204

:

him, I didn't come across him as the young

kid.

205

:

I came across him much more mature, and

seasoned as Spider-Man.

206

:

And I was like, well, he's gotta show

somewhere, you know, show where he came

207

:

from.

208

:

But I think the cool thing was, like you

said, he pointed out that.

209

:

You know, he has the Afro Latino thing

going on.

210

:

And it was such a cool concept because, I

mean, Spider-Man is, you know, about as

211

:

American as Apple Pie.

212

:

And here they take one of the flagship

characters from Marvel and, you know, make

213

:

them look like me.

214

:

I used to have my hair like that back when

I was in high school, the same kind of, I

215

:

mean, granted, my hair probably wasn't as

big as Miles Morales's, but.

216

:

I wore my hair like that in high school.

217

:

So I was like, wow, this is kind of cool.

218

:

And like the tagging and the, you know,

just appreciating of the music and just

219

:

the dress and the culture, the flavor,

everything was there.

220

:

But yeah, I guess he just kind of popped

up for me.

221

:

I'm not really sure exactly when he hit

the scene.

222

:

It just like when I saw it, I was like,

wow, this is cool.

223

:

And I just kind of embraced it.

224

:

And then when I heard that they were doing

an animated, the animated movie.

225

:

and he was going to be the protagonist in

it.

226

:

I was like, wow, this is kind of cool.

227

:

And I remember JB, you told me that you

saw it, you was telling me how good it

228

:

was.

229

:

I was like, oh my God, I want to see it so

bad.

230

:

Then I finally saw it and my mind was

blown.

231

:

Watching it prior to this recording was

like watching it for the first time.

232

:

Even though I knew what was going to

happen, it felt those same feelings were

233

:

there as if I just watched it.

234

:

Yeah, it's that good.

235

:

I mean, so I did some research in full

disclosure about Miles Morales, because I

236

:

was curious.

237

:

So he first appeared in Ultimate Comics,

the actual comic book, Fallout Number

238

:

Four, which was published in August of

:

239

:

But that, yeah, so he's fairly recent.

240

:

Yeah.

241

:

there's a storyline, the ultimate

storylines.

242

:

Peter Parker dies and then he's the new

Spider-Man.

243

:

Right.

244

:

So Marvel as a whole has done a lot of

great things with diversity within the

245

:

past decade or so.

246

:

When you see the Marvel, the MCU, five?

247

:

Yeah, yeah.

248

:

was, he was always about inclusion.

249

:

Right, right.

250

:

I mean, Black Panther, you have Ms.

251

:

Marvel, who's Pakistani-American.

252

:

Yeah, that's right.

253

:

I mean, even just, you know, Captain

Marvel having the female superhero in the

254

:

MCU, you know, because I know there's

always Wonder Woman out there in the DC

255

:

side, but like, yeah, there's a lot more

diversity inclusion out there.

256

:

So people can, a lot of people can relate

to it because, you know, for years and

257

:

years it was your white male superheroes.

258

:

And

259

:

not relatable to a lot of folks.

260

:

So we get to see some of these other

spider people from other universes.

261

:

Will you wanna take us to which ones we

saw and which one do you like best out of

262

:

those?

263

:

sure I mean we have Spider Gwen who's Gwen

Stacy from another universe her best

264

:

friend was Peter who actually was killed

and she took on the mantle as a spider

265

:

person in her universe, you have Peni Parker

from the future she is a daughter of Peter

266

:

and has the robot I guess tech suit type

spider-man that

267

:

Kinetically connected.

268

:

We have Spider-Ham, Peter Porker, one of

my old favorites from back in the day.

269

:

And we have Spider-Man Noir who is, he's

got that nostalgic detective look about

270

:

him and he's always in black and white.

271

:

It's like the coolest thing.

272

:

No matter what else is glowing color

around him, he's black and white.

273

:

Like a 1930s detective, I think was his

thing.

274

:

from Watchmen.

275

:

Exactly, Rorschach from Watchmen, yes.

276

:

The Shadow, you know?

277

:

Yeah.

278

:

you have a favorite, BooGie, out of all

those characters?

279

:

I'm torn, I'm torn.

280

:

So like I said, I remember Spider-Ham from

way back in the day.

281

:

And I think I actually do have, I actually

do have some comic books that feature him.

282

:

So he's always been a favorite of mine.

283

:

And it was so cool to finally see him

animated.

284

:

But like that black and white detective

get up always gets me too.

285

:

Cause I've watched a lot of Dick Tracy and

you know, those old black and white

286

:

detective movies.

287

:

So.

288

:

Spider-Man Noir always kind of gravitated

towards me as well.

289

:

And I like the way he talks as well, so

it's got that cool vibe about him.

290

:

I'm like kind of torn between those two.

291

:

I mean, no disrespect, Penny is nice, but

those two I'm like gravitated towards

292

:

right away.

293

:

Yeah, DynoWright, how about yourself?

294

:

Definitely Spider-Ham, because I too had

some Spider-Ham comics back in the day.

295

:

I was big into the Marvel comics in grade

school and high school, so I read

296

:

Spider-Ham whenever I could.

297

:

That's so good.

298

:

Yes!

299

:

So random.

300

:

So for myself as a bit of a Japanophile

and liking anime style, I like Peni

301

:

Parker.

302

:

She's my favorite.

303

:

She's from the year 3145, so it's just

cool that she's from the future and has

304

:

that telepathic abilities.

305

:

So yeah, I like her.

306

:

Just the styling of her, the way she

talks.

307

:

It's really, really, really cool.

308

:

But you can't go wrong with any of those

characters.

309

:

Yeah.

310

:

Yeah, that was really cool.

311

:

So let's dive into the soundtrack.

312

:

We talked about some of the songs, the old

school type songs that were featured in

313

:

it.

314

:

The jam that I really love was What's Up

Danger.

315

:

I love that one.

316

:

That really got me hype.

317

:

That was by, I'm not too familiar with the

artists, Blackway and Black Caviar do that

318

:

song.

319

:

That's the scene when Miles kind of really

comes of age as Spider-Man and-

320

:

talking about the leap of faith that Peter

Parker told him he's going to have to

321

:

take.

322

:

He just bears down and just goes for it.

323

:

I love that scene.

324

:

complementary.

325

:

The soundtrack, all the elements worked in

this movie and the soundtrack.

326

:

and the score really, really complemented

each other.

327

:

Even though the soundtrack is more modern

artists that I'm not totally familiar

328

:

with, even four years, five years later.

329

:

But the score has a lot of old school

stuff for heads like us.

330

:

And like you said, that that very

impactful scene where he comes of age and

331

:

the moves of music really works.

332

:

So it didn't really kind of didn't really

matter.

333

:

Like I didn't know the song or like the

song really worked for that moment.

334

:

It definitely works for that scene

335

:

I mean, the most memorable track that

people remember is the Sunflower Song,

336

:

which was, again, the collab between Post

Malone and Swae Lee.

337

:

At the very beginning, it's played

throughout.

338

:

That got a lot of airplay on Top 40 radio.

339

:

But there's also some songs by the late

Juice WRLD.

340

:

Coi Leray has a song, Jaden Smith as well.

341

:

And the one, Nicki Minaj,

342

:

has a collaboration called Familia with

Bantu, Anwil AA.

343

:

I'm not too familiar with some of those

other artists, but that was a catchy song,

344

:

the one, Familia.

345

:

In fact, we went old school with this and

I rented the DVD and I think DynoWright

346

:

did as well.

347

:

And they had, you could watch the music

videos for that familiar song as well as

348

:

the sunflower song with the lyrics.

349

:

Yeah, they do a lyrics video.

350

:

Yeah.

351

:

It's a great soundtrack though, overall.

352

:

Like every song you're like, nodding your

head to.

353

:

Yeah.

354

:

Yeah, definitely makes you nod your head.

355

:

I mean, like you said, it's not a lot of

artists from here that I'm familiar with.

356

:

I mean, there's a few, I mean, obviously.

357

:

Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne, Ty Dolla $ign,

Juice WRLD, Vince Staples, Cordae, Jaden

358

:

Smith, Coi Leray, Post Malone, Swae Lee,

and the late Triple X-Tentacion.

359

:

Like...

360

:

I'm familiar with those guys, but there's

some, there's a good vibe going on with

361

:

this soundtrack.

362

:

I've added to my playlist right away.

363

:

Yeah.

364

:

Yeah, so Biggie's not on the soundtrack,

but they do play Hypnotize a bit.

365

:

Yeah, they left the old school tracks off

of the soundtrack, but we already have

366

:

them anyways.

367

:

probably, yeah.

368

:

Yeah, yeah.

369

:

Yeah, they made the soundtrack for the

younger generation.

370

:

They want to sell an album of, you know,

current stuff.

371

:

Mm-hmm.

372

:

I was looking a little bit at the cast

also.

373

:

Spider-Man Noir was played by Nicholas

Cage.

374

:

I didn't realize that at first.

375

:

That got a lot of big time people for

this.

376

:

Big time voice actors, yeah.

377

:

John Mulaney did Spider-Ham's voice and

Liev Schreiber for Kingpin.

378

:

Yeah.

379

:

Pine and Lily Tomlin and Leo Schreiber and

Zoe Kravitz.

380

:

Holy crap, it's a lot of people.

381

:

Katherine Hahn, Mahershala Ali.

382

:

He won an Oscar.

383

:

Yeah, he's super talented.

384

:

I look at all of the names, I recognize

all of these names.

385

:

I was like, wow, that's crazy.

386

:

Yeah.

387

:

Yeah.

388

:

a big budget film between the technology,

animation and the voice acting, et cetera.

389

:

I think they spent like 90 million if I

read it correctly, but they've made well

390

:

more than that, three to 400 million in

that range in box office revenues.

391

:

Stan Lee has his appearance, it has

selling the suit, which is a nice touch.

392

:

He's always in the films.

393

:

This is one of his last ones, I would

think.

394

:

Yeah.

395

:

Nope.

396

:

watch the special features in the DVD,

they go through.

397

:

There's multiple Stan Lee appearances in

this film, so it's fun.

398

:

I missed them all, except for the main

scene he's in.

399

:

But yeah, he's sprinkled out throughout.

400

:

I love when they do that, yeah.

401

:

I always try to pick them out in a lot of

the other Marvel, the animated movies, I

402

:

remember.

403

:

Like Big Hero 6 and a few others, where

I'm like, there's the Stan Lee.

404

:

I mean, there's a couple of, I'm sorry.

405

:

I was looking like there's a couple of

voices in this that are actually in the

406

:

MCU.

407

:

They're entering, they're either in the

MCU or gonna be entering into the MCU.

408

:

Like Hailey Steinfeld is the current

Hawkeye, you know, Oscar Isaac, Moon

409

:

Knight, Mahershala Ali, Blade.

410

:

You know, we've seen, Nicholas Cage is not

in the MCU, but we've seen him as Ghost

411

:

Rider.

412

:

Katherine Hahn is in, she's a, that's her

hardest form, she was in WandaVision.

413

:

It's like, wow.

414

:

It's like, it's crazy.

415

:

It's just like, wow.

416

:

So you guys are all in with Marvel.

417

:

Yeah.

418

:

Great cast.

419

:

Great cast man.

420

:

Even Lily Tomlin.

421

:

Aunt May.

422

:

Wow.

423

:

Well, shout out to Lily Tomlin.

424

:

The legendary Lily Tomlin.

425

:

I love when she has all those spider

people that she's storing.

426

:

She just nods her head.

427

:

Yeah, she's seen it all.

428

:

Yeah.

429

:

I got something for you.

430

:

Check this out.

431

:

ha ha.

432

:

Yeah, right.

433

:

Yeah.

434

:

Yeah, we're not gonna get really much into

the plot, but I remember when, I was not a

435

:

big comic book fan, so I don't know a lot

of the backstory.

436

:

When I realized that Uncle Aaron was

Prowler, I was like, whoa, like plot twist

437

:

there.

438

:

When I rewatch it again, it's like, it's a

little bit more obvious where you can see,

439

:

but I was like blown away by that at

first, my first.

440

:

Yeah.

441

:

I think after the record, I'm gonna watch

the second one.

442

:

Ha ha ha.

443

:

Yeah, I never actually got to the other

ones, so I need to watch those.

444

:

Boogie?

445

:

You know what's odd is that I wanted to go

see it in the theaters and something kept

446

:

coming up every time I wanted to go.

447

:

So I never got to see it.

448

:

But it's on.

449

:

I'll have it.

450

:

service now, yeah.

451

:

I saw it in the theater because my son

makes sure that we see it sort of when it

452

:

first came out.

453

:

It was good.

454

:

I prefer the first one because it's hard

to top this one, the original, and the

455

:

music I think is better than this first

one.

456

:

But it's really good.

457

:

I mean, the animation is incredible.

458

:

It's really good.

459

:

It's just, and I watched it the first time

on a plane.

460

:

And so to have it that good in a tiny

little screen on a plane tells you

461

:

something.

462

:

Yeah, I can't wait till my son is old

enough to drag me to the movies.

463

:

Because right now he's like, yeah, right

now he's not into it yet.

464

:

He will watch a movie at home, but he's

not into the movie theater experience yet.

465

:

But once he is, then I'll definitely have

a reason to stay on top of everything

466

:

because right now I'm so behind on

everything.

467

:

Yeah.

468

:

My daughter will come with us to see it,

but I think she fell asleep during the

469

:

second one Across the Spider-Verse.

470

:

She's just not into it.

471

:

Not her thing.

472

:

That's fine.

473

:

This was excellent.

474

:

Maybe we broke some ground here.

475

:

We can do some more films that have a lot

of these hip hop elements.

476

:

What I'm hearing is the newer Transformers

has a lot of hip hop.

477

:

from the 90s because of where it takes

place, the timeframe, and something like

478

:

that.

479

:

So yeah, there's so much we can dig into.

480

:

Yeah, I mean, there's definitely

appreciators of the culture that are

481

:

involved in the filmmaking industry.

482

:

So it's good to see them, you know, give a

nod.

483

:

Anything else to add on the Spider-Man to

the Spider-Verse?

484

:

Go see it.

485

:

If you haven't seen it, go see it.

486

:

I don't think we have to go around and do

the review.

487

:

We are glowing here.

488

:

Glowing reviews.

489

:

Yeah.

490

:

keeping it.

491

:

We are bringing a funky flick back.

492

:

a vault.

493

:

This thing is always back in the game.

494

:

not.

495

:

should stay in constant circulation.

496

:

Yeah.

497

:

I'm such a fan of the movie, I went out

and got this guy.

498

:

Ha ha ha.

499

:

it is.

500

:

So Boogie, hold that up again.

501

:

Tell the people.

502

:

It's the Miles Morales Into the

Spider-Verse.

503

:

Yeah, one sixth scale figure.

504

:

Yeah, I mean, it looks so realistic.

505

:

It's crazy.

506

:

Well, not even realistic.

507

:

It looks so much like the actual cartoon,

but I'm not even gonna go into it too

508

:

much, but like, yeah, he's in there.

509

:

Got a spray painted spider logo.

510

:

Got different heads that you put on, one

with the mask, one without the mask.

511

:

The only thing I don't like is that he

doesn't have Jordans.

512

:

He's got bobos.

513

:

He got bobo shoes.

514

:

Yeah.

515

:

You said there's a spray can in there at

the bottom I saw, right?

516

:

Yeah.

517

:

in here.

518

:

Yeah, there's one right here at the

bottom.

519

:

Yeah, that's cool.

520

:

there you go.

521

:

he's got the cover book, different hand

poses.

522

:

Yeah and if I open it up he's got the

actual um the hoodie, the jacket, the

523

:

shorts um that he wears and throughout the

cartoon as well.

524

:

Yeah it's pretty cool.

525

:

Okay, this is the back there, you know.

526

:

Kinda shows them.

527

:

This looks just like the cartoon.

528

:

It's crazy.

529

:

Yeah.

530

:

yeah, the technology has improved so much.

531

:

Really did.

532

:

Yeah.

533

:

when we watched the Biz Markie documentary

we talked about he was a big toy fanatic

534

:

and he had a bunch of toys.

535

:

I think we would share some Instagram

posts.

536

:

You know, remember Kwame from the 90s?

537

:

He's like a big toy guy.

538

:

Yeah.

539

:

He has his own toy show where he will

order like a new toy and most are hip hop

540

:

themed and he'll like unbox them or show

them.

541

:

again.

542

:

Yep.

543

:

been watching some of his stuff lately.

544

:

The man we all know and love, Kwame.

545

:

Yeah.

546

:

Yeah, who's big into it?

547

:

Who goes to the actual conventions, too?

548

:

Yes, he went to like a spooky Halloween

one, like Monster Fest or something, side

549

:

effect.

550

:

And then, yeah, he's a good follow on

Instagram.

551

:

I can't wait till like one day I'll have

him out on display.

552

:

But right now it's not optimal, so I'm

just keeping him in the box.

553

:

Good plan.

554

:

I got lucky.

555

:

I mean this thing will set you back a few

hundred, set you back a couple hundred and

556

:

some change.

557

:

But I got it for free.

558

:

Ooh, there you go.

559

:

that there was a promo promotional thing

online or something.

560

:

yeah, Hot Toys.

561

:

And there's a couple of companies that

they were having, like throughout the

562

:

year, they would have these different

contests and you can get points and

563

:

different promotions.

564

:

We can just stack points.

565

:

So I stacked up all of these points and

then one day they were like, well, if you

566

:

don't lose your points, you're gonna lose

them.

567

:

So I went online and just said, all right,

I've got a few hundred dollars worth of

568

:

points and I ordered him.

569

:

Boom.

570

:

Good choice.

571

:

Nice.
